District Birthday Event: Smiles & cake all round :)

To celebrate the 40th Birthday of Beaver Scouts in the UK, Grantham District held a Birthday Event at Duke’s Covert Campsite, Ancaster on Saturday. Nine Beavers from 1st Caythorpe and Duke's Covert joined the fun, which started at 10am with a range of activities including soft archery, soft axe throwing, crown making, blind trail, tower building, the assault course and a ‘Beaver Hunt’.

Four of our Young Leaders also volunteered on the day, playing a pivotal part in the day’s proceedings, running three different activities. Our volunteer Leader team erected our new event shelter and feather flags, with the shelter providing welcome shade for our young people during their picnic lunch. We were all treated to a birthday cupcake expertly baked by event organiser, Gill. Thank you!

In the afternoon, the various Beaver Colonies joined together to for karate, circus skills and boulder climbing (on the low wall). The Beavers had the opportunity to try unicycles, juggling, stilt walking, plate spinning and the list goes on!

The Beavers had a fantastic day trying new activities and making new friends. They all went home tired and happy.

Our Young Leaders were incredible, mature, reliable and enthusiastic. Thank you Peter, Elise, Tilly and Baloo. Without your help we’d have struggled to run the event.
